School of Agricultural Biotechnology

Punjab Agricultural University

School of Agricultural Biotechnology offered M.Sc (Biotechnology) and PhD. (Biotechnology) programme at PAU, Ludhiana with an intake of total 31 students. In 2020, Department of Biotechnology, GOI, New Delhi approved M.Sc (Biotechnology) under their DBT PG teaching programme and approved 10 M.Sc (Biotechnology) seats through a National Level Entrance Test Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT-B) conducted by DBT's institute Regional Centre for Biotechnology as per DBT norms. Five seats are also filled by the ICAR National Level Examination. The eligibility criteria to get admission in M.Sc (Biotechnology) is B.Sc./B.tech Biotech. 4-year/B.Sc. Molecular Biology 4-year/B.Sc. Agri. (Hons)/B.Sc. Forestry/B.Sc. Hort. with at least 60% marks or OCPA 6.0/10 through MET Biotechnology (Master Entrance Test). The exam will be conducted every year in the month of June-July.

For PhD. admission, students must have qualified the M.Sc. in Biotech./Plant Breeding and Genetics/Life Sciences along with four year B.Sc. in Biotech. (Hons)/Molecular Biology/Agri.(Hons)/Forestry/Horticulture. The exam will be conducted every year in the month of Nov-Dec through PET (PhD Entrance Examination) conducted by the PAU. The total number of seats allocated is 8 of which 2 seats are filled by the ICAR National Level Examination.
